Is the Old City Hall bell tower a historical soundmark?
Listening to its deep, resonant tones could be a useful way of measuring
how much the Toronto soundscape has changed over the years.
Notice how the long, graceful ringing of the bells contrasts
with the frenzied and hyperactive pace of the city below.
If you were to start walking in any direction away from the bell tower today,
at what point would you be out of hearing range of the bells?
What about fifty or seventy-five years ago?
