The Toronto Subway System

Standing on the Northbound platform at Queen Street,
sounds from the "mechanical age" mingle with those of
an increasingly electronic one.

Here I began to wonder,
How would a blind person know where the train is taking them?

Subway Soundmarks (or Echoes of the Industrial Age Gone-by):

tokens clicking as they're dropped into the fare boxes,
the metallic cranking of the turnstiles,
and the beeping of passengers 'swiping' their way through
the new electronic turnstiles.

the enormous rush and whir, sighing, farting, and rumbling of the trains
as they arrive from opposite ends of the tunnel.

Then the door chimes of each train ring - each pair slightly out of tune with the others.
