Walking through the Eaton Centre
(The Eaton Centre is an enormous glassed-in shopping complex, with three walkways on different levels running the length of the mall)
From the upper walkway, the spacious and lofty acoustic
complements the domed glass ceiling hundreds of feet above.
From one boutique in particular, comes the 'piped-in' sound of
gentle guitar music mixed with nature sounds.
Along the middle walkway, the acoustic is crowded and poorly defined.
The presence of pop music emanating from each of the shops
dominates and confuses the soundscape.
On the bottom walkway, the acoustic is dense, enclosed, chaotic and murky.
At one end, two broad-band waterfalls contribute to the noisy din.
