Across Temperance Street to small courtyard.
A crumpled piece of paper
pushed across the pavement by air currents,
the low rumble of traffic, car horns and bicycle-courier radios
which leap around the walls of this courtyard.
This is the city's 'acoustic',
shaped by the structure and placement of reflective surfaces.
Glass, stone, concrete, steel, ashphalt.
Does every city in the world have its own unique 'acoustic trademark'?
