About

Hello.

Most people know me as either a composer, a musician, a music/audio technologist, a teacher and/or a practice-based researcher.

Currently, I am an Audio Research Engineer with Surgical Safety Technologies, Inc.. I am also in the process of completing my PhD at the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies in collaboration with the Knowledge Media Design Institute and the Digital Dramaturgy Lab at the University of Toronto (Canada).

The central focus of my doctoral research examines what happens when artists use data (whether ‘big’ or ‘small’ data) as the primary material for creating live performances. How are the existing methods, practices, and aesthetics of information design adapted to the making of performances involving living, human beings? What is the potential impact of such ‘data performance’ experiences on audiences, participants, and communities?

Over the past few years, I have also worked as a Research Assistant across multiple disciplines — digital dramaturgy, perceptual artifacts design and biomedical simulation. Much of this work focuses on the methods and practices of sonic information and interaction design.

From 2000 to 2013, I worked as a sessional instructor in electroacoustic music technology and composition at Wilfrid Laurier University and as a freelance creative artist/performer with a variety of performing groups, including bluemouth inc and Vertical City Performance.

As a musician and composer, my creative output continues to include immersive and participatory performances to soundscape design and electroacoustic music for theatrical and inter(/en)active media environments. As my composition studio’s output continues to evolve and expand, most new works will be released through SoundCloud.
